Biography of Charlie Bilodeau
Charlie Bilodeau is a Canadian figure skater who competes in pair skating with his partner Julianne Seguin. He was born in 1993 in Rimouski, Quebec.
Early Career
In 2008, Bilodeau was paired with Krystel Desjardins, and they competed together until 2013. With Desjardins, he won a silver medal at the Canadian Junior Championships in 2012. In the Olympic season, Seguin and Bilodeau became the vice-champions of Canada in pair skating at the Junior Championships. However, they had to withdraw from the Junior World Championships in Bulgaria due to health issues.
Junior Success
In the post-Olympic season, Seguin and Bilodeau had successful performances in the Junior Grand Prix, winning two events and qualifying for the Final in Barcelona. They won the gold medal at the Junior Grand Prix Final and finished with bronze at the Canadian Nationals. In their second attempt, they qualified for the Junior World Championships in Tallinn, where they improved their previous achievements in all categories.
Transition to Senior Career
The skaters ended their season at the World Championships in China, where they had a successful performance and finished in the top ten. They started the new season with a competition in Germany at Nebelhorn Trophy. A month later, they competed in the United States at Skate America, where they finished third. They also participated in the Trophée Bompard, but the competition was canceled due to safety concerns. However, they qualified for the Grand Prix Final in Barcelona, where they achieved their best results and finished fourth. They became the silver medalists at the Canadian Nationals but had to end their season early due to medical reasons.
Olympic Season
In the pre-Olympic season, Seguin and Bilodeau began their campaign at the Autumn Classic International in Montreal, where they won the gold medal and surpassed their previous achievements. They also won the Cup of America in Chicago. In November, they competed in Moscow at the Rostelecom Cup, finishing in the middle of the table. Despite this, they qualified for the Grand Prix Final in Marseille, France, where they improved their performance in the free program and finished fifth. However, Seguin suffered a concussion before the national championships and they had to withdraw at the last moment. They later participated in the World Championships in Helsinki, where they finished in eleventh place.
New Olympic Season
In the new Olympic season, Bilodeau and Seguin started with a bronze medal at the Autumn Classic International in Montreal. A month later, they competed in the Russian Grand Prix event, finishing in the middle of the standings. Three weeks later, they participated in the Japanese Grand Prix event, finishing close to the podium.
