Bohitutile's Early Life and Education

Bohitutile was born on November 19, 1955, in Windhoek, Namibia. She attended Catholic schools in the Old Location, a black township in Windhoek, until the late 1950s. She also studied at the Roman Catholic Gunichas School near Gobabis and at the Catholic High School in Döbra. Bohitutile pursued a diploma in home economics through correspondence courses with Damelin College in South Africa and the Vista University.

Bohitutile's Teaching and Farming Career

After graduating, Bohitutile taught at the Immanuel Shifidi Secondary School in Windhoek. Simultaneously, she embarked on a farming career and became increasingly involved in politics.

Bohitutile's Political Career

A member of the South West Africa People's Organization (SWAPO), Bohitutile served as a member of the 2nd and 3rd National Assemblies from 1995 to 2005. She also held the position of Deputy Minister of Basic Education and Culture from 1995 to 2005. She was re-elected to the National Assembly from 2007 to 2010, replacing the retired Ben Amathila. She is also a member of the SWAPO Central Committee.

Bohitutile's Business Career

Bohitutile is also a prominent commercial farmer and businesswoman. In 2006, she was named "Emerging Farmer of the Year" by the Namibian Agricultural Union. In September 2010, she made history by becoming the first woman to be elected as chairperson of the MeatCo Namibia board of directors. Bohitutile also served on the board of directors of the Windhoek Country Club and Casino.

Bohitutile's Recognition

Bohitutile was awarded the Most Excellent Order of the Eagle, Third Class, on Heroes' Day 2014.
