Early Career

Ko Baayens, a Dutch footballer, began his professional career with Ajax Amsterdam on August 1, 1949. Initially playing for the club's third and second teams, he was eventually promoted to the first team. During his time at Ajax, voetbal (football) in the Netherlands was still considered a semi-professional sport.

Prominent Player at Ajax

Baayens made his debut on September 17, 1950, during the 1950-1951 season. From 1950 to 1954, he became a key player for the club, accumulating 106 appearances. He played his final match for Ajax on November 28, 1954.

Years with AFC and Ajax Board Membership

After leaving Ajax, Baayens spent several seasons with another Amsterdam club, AFC. From 1961 to 1963, his younger brother Kees also played for AFC.

Baayens returned to Ajax in 1963 as a board member, serving until 1979. He was also a member of the club's finance committee until 1981, including several years as chairman.

Recognition and Passing

In 2000, Ajax honored Baayens with a commemorative token for his 50 years of membership with the club. On March 17, 2005, Ko Baayens passed away at the age of 80. His cremation ceremony took place on March 22 at the Westgaarde crematorium in Amsterdam-Osdorp.
