Her father, Rocky Aoki, was of Japanese-American descent and was a former Olympic wrestler. He was the founder and owner of the "Benihana" chain of restaurants until his death in July 2008. Her mother, Pamela Hilburger, has German and English roots and works as a jewelry designer.

Aoki was noticed at a concert by the band "Rancid," where she managed to sneak in without a ticket. She began her modeling career at the age of 13. In the same year, her godmother, Kate Moss, introduced her to the industry and later took young Devon under her wing. At the age of 14, she signed a contract with the modeling company "Storm Model Management".

In 1998, Devon replaced Naomi Campbell as the face of Versace, becoming the brand's spokesperson. She excelled academically but decided not to attend college, believing that her work and travels would provide a broader and deeper education than a degree.

Aoki has worked for fashion houses such as "Lancome," "Chanel," and "Versace." Despite her height of only 1.65 meters, which is considered short for runway models (usually a minimum height of 1.73 meters), it did not hinder Devon from participating in campaigns for brands like "Chanel Ready to Wear," Karl Lagerfeld's collection (Chanel), Steven Meisel (Versace), Juergen Teller (YSL), Bettina Kimenda (Junko Shimada), Kimora Lee Simmons (Baby Phat), and events for "Alessandro Del Aqua," "Hugo Boss," "Moschino," "Ungaro," and "Fendi."

During the early years of her career, Aoki made appearances in several music videos, including "Electric Barbarella" by Duran Duran, "Kowalski" by Scottish band Primal Scream, Elton John's "Something About the Way You Look Tonight," "In Those Jeans" by Ginuwine, and later in the music video "Act a Fool" by the group Ludacris. Interestingly, she did not have a driver's license before filming "2 Fast 2 Furious" (2003), where she and Ludacris also appeared. She had to learn to drive on the set itself.

In 2006, she starred in The Killers' music video for the song "Bones" and in short films accompanying Sean Lennon's album "Friendly Fire." Aoki's acting career includes films such as "2 Fast 2 Furious," "Sin City," "Dead or Alive," "Mutant Chronicles."

Devon's photos graced the cover of "I-D" magazine three times, and she was the face of Lancome for four years. In the London Fashion Show of 2008, Aoki returned to the runway with the presentation of the pre-fall collection of "Chanel."

She currently resides in Los Angeles and keeps her private life secret. Devon Aoki is also known for her hobbies, including writing poetry, playing drums, and owning two pet snakes.
