Biography of Dino Cazares

Dino Cazares is a Mexican-American musician and guitarist from Los Angeles. He is best known as a member of the metal band Fear Factory, but has also played in other metal groups such as Divine Heresy, Brujeria, and Asesino.

Early Life and Career

Dino Cazares was born in Lower California and grew up in Los Angeles. After finishing school, he played in a band called Violent Breed with Marcus Jay Shapiro. In 1989, Cazares met drummer Raymond Herrera and together formed a band called Ulceration. However, in 1990, the band changed their name to Fear Factory.

Fear Factory and Side Projects

The first album released by Fear Factory, "Soul of a New Machine," was dedicated to Cazares' mother, father, and older brother Joey. Before joining Fear Factory, Cazares played in the grindcore band Excruciating Terror. He later formed the Mexican death/grind side project Brujeria with members from bands such as Faith No More and Fear Factory.

In 2002, when Fear Factory temporarily disbanded, Cazares reunited with Brujeria. He also started a project called Asesino, where he played bass and vocals alongside bassist Tony Campos (Static-X) and drummer Raymond Herrera. Meanwhile, Fear Factory continued without Cazares, and Christian Olde Wolbers became the new guitarist for the band.

Roadrunner United and Divine Heresy

In 2005, Cazares was chosen by Roadrunner A&R Monte Conner to lead the Roadrunner United album. He contributed four songs and collaborated with other musicians from Roadrunner Records. Currently, Cazares is focused on his band Divine Heresy, which he signed with Roadrunner Records and Century Media. The band consists of Tim Yeung on drums, Joe Payne on bass, and Travis Neal on vocals.

Discography

Divine Heresy's debut album, "Bleed The Fifth," was released on August 27 in Europe and August 28 in the US. The album was produced by Dirty Icon and Lucas Banker, with artwork by Joachim Luetke. Their second album, "Bringer of Plagues," was released on July 28, 2009.
