Birth and Early Life
Éva Katalin Handa was born in a rural village to a veterinarian father. She spent her childhood there before moving to Budapest in 2005 to pursue her political studies.
Political Career
Jobbik YearsAt Budapest's Corvinus University, Handa began her political career with the ultra-nationalist party Jobbik. She served as its National Press Secretary from 2007.
Elected to the Hungarian National Assembly in 2010, Handa became the parliament's youngest member at age 23. She held this record until 2018. Within Jobbik, she held positions as Vice-Leader of the Parliamentary Group and Head of the Educational Cabinet.
Split within Jobbik
In 2018, Handa aligned herself with László Toroczkai in the party leadership contest. After Toroczkai's defeat, she was expelled from the parliamentary faction for supporting his "We Stand Up for Ourselves" platform.
Mi Hazánk Movement
Following her expulsion, Handa joined Toroczkai's newly formed ultra-right party, Mi Hazánk Movement. She is currently its sole parliamentary representative.
Personal Life
Éva Katalin Handa has been married to fellow Jobbik politician Előd Novák since 2008. They have two sons and a daughter.
