Organized Pilgrimage in 1936
As the pastor of St. Anne's Church in Warsaw, Michał organized a pilgrimage to the revered Marian shrine in Częstochowa in 1936. This gathering of Catholic students further solidified his commitment to nurturing the faith of young people.
Active Pastoral Ministry
During the turbulent years of the war, Michał's pastoral work became a beacon of hope and resistance. His unwavering presence and support inspired countless souls. However, his unwavering dedication made him a target for the Nazi regime.
Arrests and Martyrdom
The Gestapo repeatedly arrested Michał for his active role in the Church. On May 2, 1940, he was seized and imprisoned in the notorious Dachau concentration camp. On August 10, 1942, he met his tragic end in the gas chamber, bearing the prisoner number 27831.
Beatification in 1999
Pope John Paul II recognized the heroic sacrifices of Polish martyrs during World War II by beatifying Michał Piaszczyński and 107 others on June 13, 1999. His legacy lives on as a testament to the unyielding spirit of the faithful in the face of adversity.
