Biography of Eduard Zvonitsky

Eduard Zvonitsky was a Russian and Ukrainian writer born into a family of engineers in Kharkiv. During the Great Patriotic War, his father, Moisey Samsonovich Zvonitsky, was called to serve in the army until 1946. Eduard remained in Kharkiv with his mother, Elizaveta Semyonovna Chernyak. In October 1941, they were evacuated to Tashkent along with his grandmother. In 1945, he began his education at Secondary School No. 9. After the war, the family returned to Kharkiv.

Educational Journey

After completing his schooling, Zvonitsky worked as a lathe operator at the Kominternovsky Tram Depot in Kharkiv for a while before deciding to pursue higher education in Moscow. He enrolled in the Zootechnical Faculty of the Moscow Veterinary Academy and later obtained a degree in animal husbandry. He continued his studies at the Biological Faculty of Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov, and subsequently at the Journalism Faculty.

Professional Career

Zvonitsky worked as a zootechnician in state farms in the Moscow region, the North Kazakhstan region, the Steppe region, and the Kharkiv region. He later became a researcher and head of a department at the Kharkiv Zoo. Alongside his work as a lathe operator, Zvonitsky started publishing his first stories in the newspaper "Kharkovskiy Elektrotransport."

Literary Achievements

In September 1962, his story "Dni Nashogo Zhyttya" was published in the Kiev magazine "Dnipro." A few months later, it was released as a separate book by the publishing house "Molod." His first publication in central press was the essay "Rasskaz o dvukh komsomolskikh putyovkakh" in the magazine "Smena" in 1963. He continued to actively contribute to newspapers and magazines in the Soviet Union, publishing in renowned publishing houses such as "Molodaya Gvardiya," "Detskaya Literatura," "Fizkultura i Sport," "Zdorovie," "Original," "Prapor," and others.

Personal Life and Tragic End

In the 2000s, Zvonitsky lived on Ivanova Street in the Nagorny District. He often gave talks to students in secondary schools, inspiring them with his writing. Eduard Moiseevich had a habit of going for sports morning runs through the center of Kharkiv. Unfortunately, during one of these runs on the early morning of November 26, 2009, he was tragically killed by unknown assailants near Shevchenko City Garden.
