Early Life and Education
Frank Ramsey, a British mathematician and economist, was born in Cambridge in 1903. His father, also a mathematician, served as president of Magdalene College. Frank was the eldest of four children, and his younger brother, Michael, later became Archbishop of Canterbury.

Academic Achievements
In 1915, Ramsey attended Winchester College before returning to Cambridge to study mathematics at Trinity College. Despite his brilliance, he avoided the stereotypical "nerd" persona, embracing a wide range of interests. He excelled in English literature, classical studies, and political science.
Psychological Explorations
Ramsey struggled with mild depression, which led him to explore psychoanalysis. During therapy in Vienna with Theodor Reik, a disciple of Sigmund Freud, Reik suggested that Ramsey's love of mathematics stemmed from unconscious impulses.
Personal Life and Influences
Ramsey married Lettice Baker in 1925 in a civil ceremony, reflecting his atheist beliefs. They had two daughters. John Maynard Keynes supported Ramsey's admission to King's College, Cambridge, in 1924, where he became the second non-graduate fellow in the college's history.
Academic Appointments
At King's College, Ramsey lectured in mathematics and became the Director of Mathematical Studies. He played a key role in bringing Ludwig Wittgenstein back to the college and acted as his supervisor for his doctoral thesis, "Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus."
Tragic Death
Throughout his life, Ramsey suffered from liver problems. He underwent a complex surgery but contracted jaundice during the procedure. Sadly, Ramsey passed away in a London hospital on January 19, 1930, at the age of 26.
Legacy
Colleagues mourned Ramsey's untimely death, recognizing his potential to become one of the most influential scientists of his time. His contributions to mathematics, economics, and philosophy continue to be admired and studied.
