Herman Halushchenko: Ukraine's Minister of Energy

Education and Legal Career

Herman Halushchenko was born in 1973 in Lviv, Ukraine. He holds a Master's degree in International Management from the Ukrainian Academy of Foreign Trade. Halushchenko also graduated with honors from Lviv State University as a lawyer in 1995.

His legal career included roles in the Prosecutor's Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Presidential Secretariat. He later served as Director of the Department of Justice in the Ministry of Justice.

Involvement in the Energy Sector

In 2013, Halushchenko became the Executive Director for Legal Support at the National Nuclear Energy Generating Company "Energoatom." From May 2020 until his ministerial appointment, he held the position of Vice President at Energoatom.

Minister of Energy

On April 29, 2021, the Ukrainian Parliament appointed Herman Halushchenko as the Minister of Energy. He secured a vote of 305 legislators from various political factions.

Academic and Political Activities

Halushchenko has taught international private law at the Institute of International Relations of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv since 2012. He also holds the position of Associate Professor in International Private Law.

Halushchenko was a member of the leadership of the "Patriot" party until August 2020. The party ran economist Andriy Novak as their candidate in the 2019 presidential election.

Honors and Awards

Herman Halushchenko is a "Honored Lawyer of Ukraine" and a recipient of the Order of Danylo Halytskyi.

Personal Life

Halushchenko is married to Olga Bohdanova and has three children: daughters Veronica and Stefania, and son Maksym. His wife is the beneficiary owner of a limited liability company.
