Gonçalo Guedes: A Portuguese Prodigy
Early CareerGonçalo Guedes, a Portuguese football prodigy, was born in Benavente, Portugal. He began his football journey with his hometown club, Atlético Juventude de Évora, before joining the esteemed youth academy of Sport Lisboa e Benfica in 2008.
Rise Through the Ranks
Guedes' exceptional talent became evident early on within Benfica's ranks. He played for several of the club's youth teams before making his debut for the reserve team, Benfica B, in 2013. The 2014/15 season proved to be a breakthrough for Guedes. He became a key player for Benfica B and began appearing in the first team's squad. On January 4, 2015, he made his senior debut for Benfica in a match against F.C. Penafiel.
International Career
Guedes represented Portugal at various youth levels, including the under-20 team that participated in the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup. His impressive performances at youth tournaments earned recognition from the senior team, and he made his international debut on September 1, 2015.
Move to Paris Saint-Germain
In January 2017, Guedes signed a contract with French giants Paris Saint-Germain for a fee of 30 million euros. He enjoyed a successful spell in Paris, winning three consecutive Ligue 1 titles (2017/18, 2018/19, 2019/20) and three domestic cup titles.
Loan to Valencia
