Gunter Neuhold

Born in Graz, Austria, in 1947, the Austrian conductor began his musical journey at the Graz Academy of Music and Theatre (1969). He later honed his skills under the tutelage of Hans Swarowsky and Franco Ferrara.
Early Career
During 1972-1980, the conductor worked in various German cities, winning accolades in several conducting competitions. He rose to prominence as the first conductor in Hanover and Dortmund.
International Acclaim
From 1981-1986, he led the Parma Opera, specializing in productions of Giuseppe Verdi's operas. His tenure at the Royal Flemish Philharmonic Orchestra (1986-1990) included numerous international tours.
Musical Leadership
From 1989-1996, the conductor served as Music Director of the Baden State Orchestra, followed by the position of General Music Director of Bremen (1995-2002).
Global Presence
In 2008, he assumed the leadership of the Bilbao Symphony Orchestra. Throughout his career, he has conducted at renowned venues worldwide, including the Vienna State Opera, La Scala, Zurich Opera House, Dresden State Opera, Bavarian State Opera, Berlin State Opera, and theaters in Bologna, Genoa, Teatro Massimo Palermo, and Catania. He has also toured extensively in the United States, Japan, and Russia.
