Early Life and Career

Benevenuto began his football career with America Football Club in his hometown of Rio de Janeiro. After two seasons, he moved to Jequia and eventually caught the attention of Flamengo, a major club in Rio de Janeiro. He spent five years with Flamengo, winning two Rio State Championships.

International Debut and Move to Atlético Mineiro

Benevenuto earned a call-up to the Brazilian national team prior to the 1930 FIFA World Cup. However, he did not play in any matches during the tournament. After the World Cup, he transferred to Atlético Mineiro in Minas Gerais.

Return to Flamengo and Success with Botafogo

Benevenuto briefly returned to Flamengo but did not achieve significant success. He then joined Botafogo, one of the leading clubs of the 1920s and 1930s. With Botafogo, he won his third Rio State Championship.

Sojourn in Uruguay and Later Career

Benevenuto then had a brief stint with Peñarol in Uruguay, but his performance there was unremarkable. Upon his return to Brazil, he played for several more clubs, never staying longer than two years at any one. He finished his career with the small club Olympic in Rio de Janeiro.
