Childhood and Early Life

Iosif Ilyich Nischev was born in 1924 in the town of Rasskazovo, Russia. His father was a textile worker, and Nischev completed seven years of education before moving with his family to Tajikistan. There, his father worked in a mine.

Service in the Great Patriotic War

Upon the outbreak of the Great Patriotic War, Nischev's father joined the cavalry and fought against the Nazis. However, he was captured and endured the horrors of a concentration camp. After the war, Nischev's father returned home, but he soon succumbed to the injuries and hardships he had endured.

Nischev was eager to join the front but was initially denied due to his young age. In 1942, at the age of 18, he was sent to a military infantry school. However, the school was soon deployed to the front, and Nischev saw his first combat on the Central Front.

Sniper Training and Recognition

Nischev initially served as a machine gunner and received the Medal "For Battle Merit" in 1942. After being wounded in 1943, he earned the Medal "For Courage." In 1944, he was recognized as an exemplary soldier and joined the Communist Party.

As a sniper, Nischev displayed exceptional skill and courage. He notably protected a Soviet machine gun crew during the crossing of the Western Bug, earning him the Order of Glory, 3rd Class, in 1944. Later that year, he played a pivotal role in the liberation of Poland, receiving the Order of Glory, 2nd Class.

The Battle of Malnov and the Order of Glory, 1st Class

In 1945, Nischev led his unit in the capture of the village of Malnov. He took command after his commander was killed and personally destroyed German machine guns with grenades. For his actions, he was awarded the Order of Glory, 1st Class, becoming a full Cavalier of the Order of Glory.

Post-War Life and Legacy

After the war, Nischev returned home and chose a peaceful profession as a builder. He married and had two children. His family moved extensively within the Soviet Union, eventually settling in Krivoy Rog, Ukraine.

In addition to his wartime achievements, Nischev also received the Order of the Red Banner of Labor for his contributions as a builder. His family continued to grow, with grandchildren and great-grandchildren carrying on the Nischev lineage.

Iosif Ilyich Nischev passed away on March 18, 1993. His legacy as a valiant warrior and a dedicated builder remains an inspiration to future generations.
