Early Life and Education

Irma Inashvili was born on July 6, 1970, in Tbilisi, Georgia. She spent her childhood and completed her schooling in Borjomi, before pursuing a degree in journalism at Tbilisi State University.

Journalistic Career

Upon graduating with a specialization in radio and television journalism, Inashvili was hired by Georgian Public Television. During her tenure, she covered conflicts in Georgia from the country's independence struggle to the present, earning her the status of a war veteran. She captured widely acclaimed footage of the conflict in Abkhazia.

In late 2003, Inashvili co-founded the Journalists' Union "Objective" (now the Objective Broadcasting Company) with David Tarkhan-Mouravi, which voiced opposition to the Saakashvili government. Objective played a role in organizing and reporting on public protests in Georgia.

Political Activism

In 2010, Inashvili joined the Resistance movement led by David Tarkhan-Mouravi. In September 2012, she released video footage exposing torture and abuse of prisoners at Tbilisi's Gldani Prison. The footage was rebroadcast on all Georgian television channels, and its exposure and subsequent investigation contributed significantly to the defeat of the United National Movement in the October 1, 2012 parliamentary elections.

In December 2012, Inashvili left the Journalists' Union "Objective" and co-founded the political party Alliance of Patriots of Georgia with David Tarkhan-Mouravi. She was elected General Secretary of the party in 2014.

Personal Life

Irma Inashvili is married and has a son and a daughter.
