Early Life and EducationIsa Gambarov was born on February 24, 1957, in the village of Küdler (now Gurdlar) in the Fizuli district of the Azerbaijan Soviet Socialist Republic (ASSR). He graduated from Baku State University in 1979 with a degree in History.
Political Beginnings
Gambarov's political career began in 1989 when he became one of the founders and leaders of the People's Front of Azerbaijan. This movement played a crucial role in advocating for Azerbaijani independence and sovereignty.
Speaker of Parliament and Acting President
In May 1992, Gambarov was elected as the Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament, known as the Milli Majlis. Following the removal of President Ayaz Mutalibov, Gambarov served as Acting President of Azerbaijan from May 19 to June 16, 1992.
