Ivica Brzić: Legendary Yugoslav Midfielder and Coach

Early Career and Club Success

Ivica Brzić began his football career at Novi Sad, spending three years before moving to Željezničar for half a season. In 1964, he joined Vojvodina, where he made his mark as a talented midfielder. With Vojvodina, he won the Yugoslav championship in 1966.

Seeking new challenges, Brzić ventured to Austria, playing for Donavitzer and Linz. With Linz, he achieved the Austrian championship title.

International Career

Despite playing primarily for Yugoslavia's second squad, Brzić earned one cap for the senior team in 1966 against the Soviet Union. The match resulted in a 2-1 defeat.

Coaching Career

After retiring as a player, Brzić embarked on a successful coaching career. He returned to Vojvodina as manager and later coached in Spain and Peru.

His most notable achievements include leading Peruvian clubs Alianza Lima and Universitario to championship titles. Alianza Lima won the Peruvian league under his guidance, while Universitario claimed back-to-back championships.

Return to Vojvodina

In 2007, Brzić made a triumphant return to Vojvodina as manager. However, his tenure was short-lived, as the club opted not to renew his contract in 2008.
