Early Career at Ericsson

Jan Wareby joined the Ericsson Corporation in 1980 as a Masters in Science degree holder. He initially worked in the Data Communications Systems division.

Transition to Cellular Systems

In 1986, Wareby joined Cellular Systems and held various senior positions within Ericsson's mobile phone business. In 1992, he became Director of Sales and Marketing for Cellular Systems, American standards, playing a pivotal role in its creation.

Global Sales and Marketing for AMPS/D-AMPS Devices

From 1994 to 1998, Wareby served as Vice President responsible for global sales and marketing of AMPS/D-AMPS devices. In early 1998, he was appointed Executive Vice President of Ericsson Radio Systems, managing the global AMPS/D-AMPS business.

Executive Vice President for European, African, and Middle Eastern Markets

In 1999, Wareby became Executive Vice President responsible for the European, African, and Middle Eastern markets.

Executive Vice President of Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson

In 2000, Wareby was promoted to Executive Vice President of Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson, leading the Consumer Products division.

Executive Vice President of Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications

Wareby is currently the Executive Vice President of Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications, overseeing the global sales and marketing operations. He was instrumental in the formation of the joint venture between Ericsson and Sony in 2001.
