Jason Parker, born on July 27, 1974, in Omaha, Nebraska, is an American athlete and a highly talented shooter in air rifle and small-bore rifle from three positions (kneeling, prone, and standing). He is currently a member of the United States national team, representing the country at the 2008 Summer Olympics in China.
Early Life and Education
Jason Parker developed an interest in shooting at a young age, but he began competing at around fourteen years old. He attended Bryan High School in Omaha and graduated in 1992. Soon after, he enrolled at Xavier University, where he completed his studies and received a degree in psychology in 1996.
Sporting Career
In 1997, Jason Parker joined the U.S Army Marksmanship Unit and continued to train actively. He has participated in numerous shooting competitions in air rifle and small-bore rifle from three positions. In 1999, he won a gold medal in air rifle and a bronze medal in small-bore rifle at the National Championships.
In 2000, Parker competed in the Olympics in Sydney and achieved a fifth-place finish. The following year, he won a silver medal at the Championship of the Americas. In 2002, he once again claimed the silver medal at the National Championships. In 2004, he participated in the Summer Olympics in Athens and finished eighth in air rifle shooting.
