Biography of Joanie Dodds
Joanie Dodds was born on September 20, 1981, in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. She grew up in Rawson, Ohio, where she attended Cory-Rawson High School. Joanie is the eldest of five children, with a younger sister and step-siblings from her parents' subsequent marriages. Her father, John Dodds, is a Baptist minister in Mansfield, Ohio, while her mother works in procurement for a steel company in Beaver Falls.
Early Life and Education
In school, Joanie was not popular and was considered a bit of a class clown. However, when she moved to Rawson, her behavior changed, and she became involved in cheerleading, athletics, theater, choir, and student government. She excelled in academics and extracurricular activities, becoming the president of the student council, vice-president of her class, and vice-president of the choir. Joanie also played the saxophone and piano, often performing in concerts.
After graduating from high school, Joanie enrolled at the University of Findlay in Findlay, Ohio. She studied computer technology and economics but left college in September 2001 to pursue a career in the modeling industry.
Modeling Career
Joanie's modeling career began when a scout from a modeling agency in Columbus, Ohio, noticed her striking appearance. She signed contracts with "Paulines Agency" in New York and "Aria" in Chicago. Joanie worked as a model in various cities, including New York, Chicago, Pittsburgh, and Cleveland. She also worked as a dancer in a strip club to make ends meet.
In 2003 and 2004, Joanie auditioned for the reality show "America's Next Top Model." Her third attempt was successful, and she became one of the 13 contestants competing in the show's sixth season. Although Joanie impressed the judges and won several challenges and "Girl of the Week" titles, she ultimately placed second to Danielle Evans.
After the show, Joanie signed contracts with "Über-Warning Models," as well as the New York and Hong Kong branches of "Elite Model Management." She appeared in advertisements for various brands and magazines, including "Oriental Daily," "Indy Fan," "Maniac," "Salon City Magazine," "Gavin Pants," "MB Make-up," "Zandra Rhodes Collection," and "Elle." Joanie also served as a judge on the Asian modeling show "Vietnamese Modeling Project."
Currently, Joanie resides in Hollywood, California, and continues to pursue her modeling career. She is also actively involved in charity work and supports the non-profit organization "Big Brothers Big Sisters," which aims to help children reach their full potential through mentoring.
Television and Other Ventures
In addition to her modeling career, Joanie has appeared on the DIY Network's show "Run My Renovation." In the show, she and John DeSilvia renovate participants' homes based on the viewers' online votes.
