Socialist Activism and Political Career
In 1927, Carrera Andrade co-founded and led the Socialist Party of Ecuador. He held various diplomatic posts, including consul in Peru, France, Japan, and the United States. Later, he served as ambassador to Venezuela, the United Kingdom, Nicaragua, France, Belgium, and the Netherlands. In 1966-1967, he became Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ecuador.

Carrera Andrade's literary career began in 1922 with the publication of his debut poetry collection, "The Unspoken Pond." Throughout the 1930s-1960s, he continued to publish numerous works, including prose and essays. His collected works were published in 1972 as "Obra poetica completa."
