Joshua Keaton, born Joshua Luis Wiener on February 8, 1979, is an American film and television actor, voice actor, singer, and music producer. He is best known to English-speaking audiences for his work as a voice actor. Keaton has provided the voices for Jules Brown in the animated series "Back to the Future," Peter Parker/Spider-Man in "The Spectacular Spider-Man," and Spyro the Dragon in the "Spyro" video game series.
Early Life and Career
Joshua Keaton was born in Hacienda Heights, California. His mother is from Lima, Peru, and his father is from Brooklyn, New York. Keaton has three sisters: Danielle, Ali Navarro, and Sabrina. He is fluent in Spanish and began his career performing in Spanish before transitioning to English.
Keaton's talents are in demand in television, film, and video games. In the 1990s, he was a member of the boy band "No Authority" and also pursued a solo career, signing with MJJ Music and later RCA Records. Keaton provided the voice for Jules Brown in the animated series "Back to the Future" from 1991 to 1992.
Voice Acting Career
In 2008, Keaton began voicing Peter Parker/Spider-Man in "The Spectacular Spider-Man" animated series. He also voiced Harry Osborn in the "Spider-Man" video games and Ocelot in the "Metal Gear Solid" video games. Keaton continued to voice Spider-Man in the video game "Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions" in 2010, alongside other veteran actors from the franchise.
Keaton also provided the voice for Spyro the Dragon in the second installment of the "Spyro" video game series in 2011. He voiced Jack Darby and Tailgate in the "Transformers: Prime" animated series, as well as the Green Lantern in "Green Lantern: The Animated Series." In 2012, Keaton initially portrayed Spider-Man in "The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes" animated series before being replaced by Drake Bell.
Recent Work
In 2013, Keaton appeared in the short film "Faithful" alongside Yuri Lowenthal and Tara Platt. He also participated in the documentary film "I Know That Voice," which explores the world of voice acting.
