Early Life and Figure Skating Debut

Kana Muramoto, a Japanese figure skater, was born in 1993. Her passion for skating began at a young age, inspired by her elder sister, Satsuki, who was also a figure skater. Despite her initial success as a singles skater, Muramoto struggled to achieve significant victories and considered retiring.

Transition to Ice Dancing

In early 2014, Muramoto decided to transition to ice dancing and partnered with Hiroichi Noguchi. Their partnership resulted in a bronze medal at the national championships.

Partnership with Chris Reed

In 2015, Muramoto teamed up with Chris Reed, the brother of renowned American ice dancer Kaitlyn Weaver. They made their debut at the NHK Trophy, where they placed second to last. However, they went on to dominate the national championships later that year.

2016-2017 Season

Muramoto and Reed continued to improve throughout the 2016-17 season. They qualified for the ISU Four Continents Championships and placed first among non-North American teams. At the World Championships, they secured a spot in the final, setting a new personal best in the short program.

2017-2018 Season

The Olympic season began with a bronze medal at the U.S. International Figure Skating Classic. They secured a berth for Japan at the Winter Olympics by placing second at the Nebelhorn Trophy. However, their performance at the home Grand Prix event in Japan was disappointing.

2018-Present

Muramoto and Reed have continued to compete at the international level since 2018. They have participated in multiple Grand Prix events and represented Japan at the 2018 Winter Olympics. Their most notable achievement remains the gold medal they won as part of the Japanese team at the 2017 World Team Trophy.
