Early Life and Career
Born in Paris, France,Kathie Lee Gifford (née Epstein) was born into a musical family. Her mother was a singer, and her father was a musician in the Navy. Growing up in Bowie, Maryland, Gifford began singing in a folk group while attending high school.
Education and Musical Endeavors
Gifford pursued higher educationat Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas, where she studied drama and music. Following graduation, she worked as a secretary for Anita Bryant in Miami before gaining recognition as a singer on the game show "Name That Tune" with Tom Kennedy.
Host of "Live with Regis and Kathie Lee"
In 1985, Gifford replaced Ann Abernathyas the co-host of "The Morning Show" on WABC-TV with Regis Philbin. The show was renamed "Live with Regis and Kathie Lee" in 1988 and became a national sensation. Gifford's open and humorous discussions about her life with her sportscaster husband, Frank Gifford, and their two children captivated audiences for over a decade.
Other Ventures
