Ken Livingstone

Ken Livingstone was born in Lambeth, South London, in 1945. As a trained teacher, he graduated from teacher's college in 1973. That same year, he was elected a Labour councillor for the Greater London Council.
Member of Parliament
In 1987, Livingstone became a Member of Parliament (MP) and served in that position until 2000. During his parliamentary tenure, he was twice elected to the party's executive committee.
Mayor of London
In 2000, Livingstone was elected Mayor of London - an office he has held since May 4th, 2000. Despite being suspended from the Labour Party for five years, he was reinstated in 2018 after a loyalty test.
