Biography of Corneliu Vadim Tudor
Corneliu Vadim Tudor, a Romanian senator and leader of the "Greater Romania" party, was born in 1949. He graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Bucharest and the Reserve Officers' School. After receiving his diploma, Tudor worked as a reporter for the newspaper "Romania Libera" and later at the Agerpres news agency.
Political Career
Tudor is the leader of the Romanian far-right party "Greater Romania" and has announced his candidacy for the upcoming presidential elections in November. In the previous presidential elections in 2000, he managed to gain 30% of the votes, coming second to the eventual winner, Ion Iliescu.
Political Agenda
Presenting his future program, Tudor stated that if elected to the highest state position, he would "eliminate the mafia within 48 hours, freeze all accounts and financial assets belonging to gangsters." It is worth noting that recently, Tudor has somewhat changed his nationalist attitudes. While he was previously considered a staunch anti-Semite, he recently initiated the idea of erecting a bust of former Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin in Romania. Shortly before that, Tudor officially acknowledged the responsibility of Marshal Antonescu, who collaborated with the fascist regime, for the genocide of 400,000 Romanian Jews who were sent to Nazi death camps.
