Reign of Costea (Stephen)
Costea, also known as Stephen, ruled the Principality of Moldavia from 1373 to 1375. Speculations suggest a familial connection with Basarab I, the ruler of Wallachia.
Family and Legacy
Costea married Margaret, the daughter of Bogdan I Muşat. Together, they established the Muşat dynasty. They had three sons: Petru, Roman, and Stephen, each of whom reigned as rulers of Moldavia.
In a document from 1392, it is recorded that Costea's wife ordered the construction of St. John the Baptist Church in Sirete. She was later laid to rest within the chapel.
