Early Life and Education
Lea Ness was born in Israel on December 27, 1961. Her academic credentials include a doctorate in biochemistry from Bar-Ilan University, where she specialized in sperm motility in her dissertation research.
Local Government Service
In 1993, Ness embarked on her political journey by joining the local council of Givat Shmuel. During her tenure, she focused on urban beautification, sanitation, and environmental conservation. She held the position of deputy mayor from 1998 to 2003.
Entry into National Politics
In 2003, Ness made the leap to national politics by winning a seat in the Knesset (Israeli parliament) as a member of the Likud party. She served on the Committee on the Rights of the Child and became the chair of the Science and Technology Committee.
Knesset Tenure
Prior to the 18th Knesset elections, Ness secured the 10th spot on the Likud party list. With Likud winning 27 seats, she gained re-election. During the government formation process, Ness was appointed Deputy Minister of Senior Citizens Affairs.
Personal Life
Beyond her political career, Ness is married with five children. She resides in Givat Shmuel and is fluent in both Hebrew and English.
