Lenita Airisto: A Renaissance Woman of Finnish Business and Media
Early Life and Modeling CareerHymmi Lenita Aulikki Airisto was born on January 1, 1937, in Helsinki, Finland. At the age of 17, she was crowned "Miss Finland" and represented her country at the "Miss Universe" pageant in 1954. While her modeling career brought her financial success, she also pursued higher education.
Educational Journey
Airisto earned a master's degree in economics from the Hanken School of Economics in Finland. She then studied television journalism at the BBC and ITV studios in London, RTF in Paris, and television channels in Hamburg, Munich, and Berlin. Her studies extended to Stanford University in California, where she gained practical experience at television studios in Los Angeles.
Television Journalism
Airisto embarked on a television journalism career spanning over 30 years, hosting more than 300 prime-time and current affairs programs. She also produced, designed, and promoted campaigns for businesses and Finland's export industry.
Entrepreneurship
In 1971, Airisto founded her own company, which bore her name. She has also authored several books and lectured extensively on topics related to her experiences.

In 2008, Airisto was recognized as one of the most influential women in Finland by the research company "Taloustutkimus." She has received the "Woman of the Year" award and the Order of the Lion of Finland, Knight First Class.

Personal Life
From 1961 to 1971, Airisto was married to politician Ingvar S. Melin. She later dated actor and singer Vesa-Matti Loiri for a period during the 1970s.
