Born in Spain, Blessed Manuel joined the Augustinian Order in 1878. On June 1, 1884, he was sent on a mission to Manila, Philippines, where he was ordained a priest on December 22, 1884. After the anti-Spanish uprising in the Philippines in 1898, he returned to Spain.
