Early Life and Career
Born on [date], Liliana Malkina graduated from the Leningrad Theater Institute named after A. Ostrovsky in 1960. She began her acting career in the Tallinn Russian Drama Theater from 1960 to 1964. Malkina then worked at the Drama and Comedy Theater "Na Liteynom" in Leningrad from 1964 to 1966. She also had a stint at the Regional Philharmonic from 1966 to 1967.
In the late 1960s, Malkina joined the Moscow Poteshny Theater "Skomorokh" and traveled across the country as part of the troupe. The performances of "Skomorokh" were a blend of masquerade, vaudeville, clowning, and drama, which suited Malkina's style perfectly. However, she faced challenges finding roles that matched her physique and rebellious nature.
Success in Prague
Despite the struggles in Russia, Liliana Malkina found acceptance and success in Prague, Czech Republic. She moved there in the early 90s and quickly made a name for herself in the local theater scene. Her first role in Prague was as the matchmaker Ente in an adaptation of Sholom Aleichem's stories. In 1995, she appeared as Aunt Tamara in the film "Kolya," which won an Academy Award.
Today, Liliana Malkina is one of the most popular residents of Czech Republic. She continues to act in films and theater productions, although she admits to feeling exhausted by the unexpected popularity she has gained.
