Ljube Boškoski
Ljube Boškoski is a prominent Macedonian politician who served as the country's Minister of Interior from 2001 to 2002.
Minister of Interior
On May 13, 2001, Boškoski was appointed Minister of Interior, a crucial role during a time of political instability in Macedonia. He served in this position for nearly 16 months.
Member of Parliament
Following his resignation from the Ministry of Interior on September 15, 2002, Boškoski became a member of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia. He represented the Democratic Alternative party in the parliament.
War Crimes Allegations
In 2005, Boškoski was arrested and extradited to the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) in The Hague. He was charged with the murder of 10 Albanian civilians in the village of Ljuboten in 2001.
Trial and Acquittal
Boškoski's trial at the ICTY lasted several years. On July 10, 2008, he was acquitted of all charges related to the Ljuboten massacre. He was subsequently released from custody.
Presidential Candidate
In 2009, Boškoski ran for president of Macedonia as an independent candidate. He finished fourth, receiving approximately 14.4% of the vote.
Literary Work
After his involvement in politics, Boškoski pursued writing. He published a book titled "Моя та борба за Македонија" ("My Fight for Macedonia"), which reflects on his experiences and perspectives on the political landscape of his time.
