Early Career and Loan SpellsLovre Kalinić, the Croatian goalkeeper for KAA Gent and the Croatian national team, began his football journey in the youth system of Hajduk Split in 2000. However, despite his talent, he struggled to break into the first team and was loaned out to several clubs, including Junak Sinj, Novalja, and Karlovac.
Rise at Hajduk Split
In 2015, Igor Tudor's appointment as Hajduk Split's head coach proved to be a turning point for Kalinić. Under Tudor's guidance, he became the club's undisputed starting goalkeeper, displacing the experienced Goran Blažević.
Record-Breaking Season
Kalinić played a pivotal role in Hajduk Split's success during the 2015/16 season. He led the team to become the division's stingiest defense, conceding the fewest goals in the Croatian First Football League.
Unprecedented Clean Sheet Streak
Kalinić's exceptional form reached its peak with an astonishing run of clean sheets. He kept opponents scoreless for 8 consecutive matches, totaling 775 minutes without conceding a goal. This record surpassed the previous best of 711 minutes set by Goran Slaviča in the 1992/93 season.
