Biography of M. Shadows

M. Shadows is the vocalist of the American band "Avenged Sevenfold." In his band, Matt turned out to be the "darkest" both in terms of musical tastes and personality. Due to this, he was nicknamed Shadows, but he wanted to preserve his own name in his pseudonym, which is how "M. Shadows" came about. Matt tried out many musical instruments, including playing the piano and wanting to be a bassist. Later, he realized that it wasn't his calling and pursued vocals instead.

Matt listened to a lot of punk rock bands, such as Misfits and H2O, and began listening to metal music after his father gifted him the album "Appetite for Destruction" by Guns N' Roses. On October 10, 2009, he married Valary DiBenedetto, the former tour manager of the band. He had known Valary since the 6th grade. Valary has a twin sister named Michelle, who is dating Synyster Gates. Valary appeared in the music video for "Seize The Day" as a key character, playing the role of Matt's girlfriend. Her vocals (screaming) are also featured in the song "The Art of Subconscious Illusion" from the album "Sounding the Seventh Trumpet."
