Michael "Mick" John Fabar
Michael "Mick" John Fabar is an Australian businessman, builder, athlete, and world record holder. Born on 23rd August 1971, in Orange, New South Wales, he is the son of John and Ann Fabar. Mick attended St Marys Primary School and James Sheahan Catholic High School, graduating in 1989.
Building and Construction
Fabar's career in building and construction began with a Diploma of Building from TAFE NSW in 1993. He later obtained a Licentiate of Building license from the Australian National University in Canberra in 1995. In 2001, he established Mick Fabar Construction, specializing in green building practices. His dedication to sustainability earned him the prestigious Master Builders Association's Outstanding Project Award for Renovation in 2006.
Fabar founded Green Homes Australia, providing affordable, energy-efficient homes. By 2008, he was the only certified green builder in the Central West of NSW. That year, he built two eco-friendly display homes in Orange, showcasing his innovative construction approach. His commitment to sustainability was recognized with HIA GreenSmart Home Builder of the Year and HIA National Home of the Year nominations in 2009. He received HIA awards for Water Efficiency in 2008 and Energy Efficiency in 2009.
Green Homes Australia transitioned to a franchise model in 2014, providing builders with access to its knowledge, resources, and business model. The company became certified to the international standard ISO 50001 for its energy management system in 2014, making it the only Australian building company with such certification as of August 2015.
Sports and World Records
Fabar was an avid rugby player in his youth, but a knee injury at age 17 forced him to give up the sport. He pursued amateur and professional boxing under the tutelage of John Robinson, former coach of the Australian boxing team.
Outside of boxing, Fabar built "ZeroD," a custom-modified 1967 Ford Falcon hot rod. Endorsed by Bond University, ZeroD became the first environmentally sustainable, carbon-neutral car. It won multiple national drag races in Australia.
Mick participated in various motorsports events, becoming the Meguiar's MotorEx Hot Rod Champion in 2005 and 2011. He also won Street Machine of the Year and Summernats Grand Champion Award in 2013.
Fabar holds two Guinness World Records for most punches thrown in one minute. On 19th November 2005, he set the world record with 436 punches. Englishman Paddy Doyle briefly broke this record, but Mick reclaimed it at the Sydney Football Stadium with 548 punches in a minute.
Continuing his record-breaking streak, Fabar also achieved the world's most left punches (boxing) in 60 seconds, with 302 punches. As of 2015, he holds the world record for most speedball hits, achieved in 2008 with 447 hits in a minute.
