Early Life and Education

Mika Lintilä was born on April 15, 1966, in Toholampi, Finland. He completed his schooling in 1986 and graduated from a business school in 1992. In 2010, he earned a Bachelor's degree in Administrative Science from the University of Tampere.

Political Career

Local Politics

Lintilä's political career began in 1997 when he became the Chairman of the Toholampi City Council. He also served as the Chairman of the Central Ostrobothnia Regional Council from 1997 to 2000. From 2001, he remained a member of the Toholampi City Council. In 2012, he was re-elected with 135 votes.

National Politics

In 1999, Lintilä was elected to the Finnish Parliament (Eduskunta) as a representative of the Centre Party, a centre-right political party. He has since served as a member of Parliament for the Vaasa electoral district.

Ministerial Appointments

On December 29, 2016, Lintilä succeeded Olli Rehn as the Minister of Economic Affairs in Sipilä's Cabinet. On June 6, 2019, he was appointed as the Minister of Finance in Rinne's Cabinet. On December 10, 2019, he became the Minister of Economic Affairs in Marin's Cabinet, a position he currently holds.
