Early Life and Education
Yuriy Orobets was born on August 18, 1938, in the village of Stroganovka, Ukraine. In 1962, he graduated from the Kherson Agricultural Institute.
Agricultural Career
Orobets' career in agriculture began in 1956 at the Gorky Collective Farm. He held various positions, including inspector-organizer, chief agronomist, and chairman of the XXI Congress of the CPSU Collective Farm.
Political Ascendancy
In 1964, Orobets joined the Communist Party of Ukraine (CPU). He rose through the party ranks, serving as the First Secretary of the Velikoaleksandrovsky District Committee from 1979 to 1983. In 1983, he became the head of the Agricultural Department of the Kherson Regional Committee of the CPU.
Leadership Positions
In December 1983, Orobets was appointed the First Deputy Chairman of the Kherson Regional Executive Committee. On December 21, 1983, he became the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Kherson Regional Council of People's Deputies. From 1987 to 1991, he served as the First Secretary of the Kherson Regional Committee of the CPU.
Soviet Era
Orobets was elected to the Supreme Soviet of the USSR in 1989. He also served as the Chairman of the Kherson Regional Council of People's Deputies from 1990 to 1996.
Post-Independence Career
After Ukraine's independence, Orobets continued his political career. He served as the Head of the Kherson Regional Department of Agriculture and Food from 1996 to 1997. From 1997 to 1998, he was the Chairman of the Kherson Regional State Administration.
Legacy
Yuriy Orobets passed away on April 2, 2021, in Kherson, Ukraine. He left behind a legacy of leadership in agriculture and politics. He was recognized for his achievements with the Order of the October Revolution, the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, and other awards.
