Miriam Ponsa: A Spanish Fashion Designer with a Rich Textile Heritage
Miriam Ponsa is a Spanish fashion designer who comes from a family with a long history in the textile industry dating back to the early 19th century. Her collections are infused with the "industrial spirit" of these traditions. Ponsa gained recognition with the opening of her first store in Barcelona's Born district. It was here that she showcased her fashionable world, leaving her mark and earning widespread trust.
Embracing Tradition
Ponsa transformed her great-grandmother's old haberdashery factory, Francesc Ponsa, built in 1820, into her own workshop. Prior to Ponsa's return, the family business had been abandoned for five years. Miriam declared, "There is something magical in the air you breathe in this place." In this "sanctuary," the designer conducts her constant research, which she believes is essential to understanding fashion. Ponsa draws inspiration from her own experiences and everything that surrounds her.
Launching the Brand
In 2000, Ponsa established her own fashion label. She recalls that the factory reminded her of her childhood, a time when her interests and personality were taking shape. Ten years later, Miriam's stunning creations graced fashion runways throughout Spain. The designer combined cutting-edge technologies such as the use of marble, latex, and dripping technique with traditional crafts such as weaving, upholstery, and handmade fabric manufacturing.

Today, the brand 'Miriam Ponsa' represents the work not only of an independent designer but also a cohesive team. Miriam collaborates with individuals who share the same goals and aspirations. Recognition and International Success
On the tenth anniversary of her company, Miriam Ponsa was honored with an award for the best Fall/Winter 2010-2011 women's collection at the '080 Barcelona Fashion' event. Prior to this, in December 2007, the designer received the 'Barcelona és Moda' award for her promising company. Ponsa has also been recognized for her best Fall/Winter 2013-2014 and best Spring/Summer 2015 collections.
Recently, Miriam opened a boutique in Manresa, although 80% of the brand's sales come from the international market. 'Miriam Ponsa' products are now available in Japan, the Netherlands, the USA, Norway, France, Luxembourg, Denmark, Italy, and Saudi Arabia.
