Early Life and EducationBorn on July 8, 1975, in Pleumeur, Morbihan, Natalia Appéré embarked on a political journey that would culminate in her becoming Mayor of Rennes. She graduated from the Institute of Political Studies in Rennes in 1996 and earned a DEA degree in public service and local government in Europe in 1997.
Political Career
Local Politics (2001-2014)Appéré began her political career in 2001 as an assistant to the Mayor of Rennes. She served as a member of the Rennes Metropolitan Council from the same year and became an assistant to the deputy of the Rennes Municipal Council in 2012.
National Politics (2012-2017)
Appéré was elected to the National Assembly in 2012 as a deputy for the 2nd constituency of Ille-et-Vilaine. During the 2012 Socialist primary, she supported François Hollande's candidacy, and for the 2017 presidential election, she endorsed Manuel Valls.
Mayor of Rennes (2014-Present)
In 2014, Appéré led a coalition of left-wing parties to victory in the Rennes municipal elections. She was elected Mayor on April 4, 2014, and her administration included five Green Party representatives.
