Olfa Kefalogianni
Early Life and EducationOlfa Kefalogianni was born on January 16, 1961, in Arta, Greece. She graduated from the Medical School of the University of Athens and became a radiologist.
Medical Career
Prior to entering politics, Kefalogianni held various positions within the medical community. From 1997 to 2003, she served as Secretary of the Medical Association of Arta, and from 2003 to 2005, as Secretary of the Medical Association of Arta.
Political Trajectory
In 1998, Kefalogianni was elected to the Municipal Council of Arta. Her parliamentary career commenced in 2012 when she became a Member of Parliament for SYRIZA in the electoral district of Arta. She has been re-elected multiple times since, most recently in 2019.
Ministerial Appointments
Kefalogianni held several ministerial positions within the SYRIZA government. She served as:
- Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister and Government Spokesperson (2015-2016)
- Minister of Administrative Reform (2016-2018)
- Minister of Citizen Protection (2018-2019)Candidacy for Regional Governor
Kefalogianni contested the 2014 regional elections for the governorship of Epirus. Although she received a significant number of votes, she ultimately lost to the incumbent governor.
