Polikarp Kakabadze Biography
Polikarp Kakabadze was a Georgian Soviet playwright born on February 23rd (March 7th), 1895 in the village of Kukhi near the city of Kutaisi, in a peasant family. He began his creative career in 1918 and immediately showed himself as a subtle psychologist and connoisseur of peasant life, a master of dialogues. In his first works, the plays "Three Virgins" and "Before Dawn," he skillfully created the image of a downtrodden Georgian peasant.
Recognition and Fame
In 1929, Kote Mardzhanishvili staged Kakabadze's play "Kvarkvare Tutaberi" at the 2nd State Dramatic Theater in Kutaisi, which brought Kakabadze recognition. His plays, such as "At the Crossroads," were staged in Baku on the Georgian stage in 1918.
