Early Life and Education

Reinu Lang was born into a diplomatic family and raised partly in Helsinki, Finland. He acquired fluency in Finnish and attended the prestigious English College in Tallinn. In 1980, he graduated with honors from the University of Tartu.

Political Career

Minister of Justice (2005-2011)

Lang joined the Reform Party in 1995 and entered politics in 2005 as Minister of Justice. In 2009, he briefly also held the position of Acting Minister of Internal Affairs.

Minister of Culture (2011-2013)

In 2011, Lang was appointed Minister of Culture. His tenure was marked by a controversial no-confidence vote initiated by opposition parties in 2013. Despite receiving support from a member of the ruling coalition, the vote failed to pass.

Resignation

Following the no-confidence vote, Lang announced his resignation. He left office on December 4, 2013.

Personal Life

Lang has been in a long-term relationship with Ulvi Kuusk since 1979, with whom he has a daughter.
