Biography of Ruben Chiftalaryan

Ruben Mkrtichevich Chiftalaryan (Armenian: Ռուբեն Մկրտիչեվիչ Չիֆտալարյան) was an Armenian statesman and entrepreneur. He was born on March 5, 1934, in Akhaltsikhe.

Education and Early Career

Chiftalaryan attended the Yerevan Polytechnic Institute from 1952 to 1957, where he studied engineering. After completing his education, he worked at the "Semipalatstroy" trust in the Kazakh SSR from 1957 to 1958. He later became the head of section No. 9 of the same trust from 1958 to 1959.

Professional Roles and Responsibilities

From 1959 to 1960, Chiftalaryan served as the chief engineer at the "Communal-Housing Construction" trust in the Kazakh SSR. He then became the manager of the "Sovnarhozshin" trust from 1960 to 1964. From 1964 to 1966, he worked as the chief engineer of the "Khimshin" trust in the Kazakh SSR.

In 1966, Chiftalaryan moved to the Ukrainian SSR and served as the manager of the No. 3 trust of "Glavkievstroy" of the 37th Construction Administration. He continued his career in Ukraine and held various managerial positions, including the manager of the "Belotserkovstroy" trust and the "Brovariselsroy" trust from 1967 to 1972.

In 1972, Chiftalaryan returned to Armenia and became the deputy head of the Department of Horticulture and Winemaking at the Council of Ministers of the Armenian SSR. He later served as the deputy minister of fruit and vegetable cultivation in the Ukrainian SSR from 1981 to 1985.

Chiftalaryan's career in Armenia continued as he became the deputy head of the Construction Department at the Ministry of Agriculture of the Armenian SSR from 1986 to 1989. He then became the first deputy chairman of the State Agricultural Development Committee of the Armenian SSR from 1989 to 1990.

Political Career

From 1990 to 1991, Chiftalaryan held the position of the first deputy chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Armenian SSR. In 1991, during the transition to an independent state, he served as the Minister of State of Armenia.

Throughout his career, Ruben Chiftalaryan made significant contributions to the development of both the public and private sectors in Armenia and Ukraine. He was known for his expertise in construction, agriculture, and horticulture.
