Biography of Ruslan Fomin
Ruslan Fomin is a Ukrainian football player and striker. He was born in the village of Russkaya Lozovaya, Dergachevsky district. At the age of 10, he started playing football with his friends in a local football section. His first coach in the youth football school was Igor Petrenchuk. Fomin began his career in the school as a defender and gradually made his way to the attacking position. He was a pupil of the DYuFK Arsenal in the city of Kharkiv. Fomin made his professional debut in football at the age of 16. He scored his first goal in a match against Ivano-Frankivsk's Spartak. Shortly after, Fomin was invited to play for the Ukrainian youth national team. Donetsk's Metalurh was interested in him, but Ruslan chose Shakhtar and signed a 5-year contract with them. In the Ukrainian championship, he played 117 games and scored 21 goals for Arsenal. He played 12 matches for Shakhtar and scored 2 goals. His first goal for Shakhtar in the top league of the Ukrainian championship was scored against Kharkiv's Metalist on August 20, 2005. The second goal came more than 4 years later, on December 12, 2009, in a match against Mariupol's Illichivets.
For a long time, Fomin was on loan to Kharkiv's Metalist, where he played 56 matches in the top league and scored 12 goals. In the Ukrainian Cup, he played 8 games and scored 5 goals (5 games, 3 goals for Shakhtar). In European competitions, he played 3 games for Shakhtar and 5 for Metalist.
On June 21, 2014, he signed a two-year contract with Odessa's Chernomorets. Fomin played for them wearing the number 19 jersey. In June 2015, he signed a contract with the Kazakh club Atyrau, which he left at the end of the season. In February 2016, he became a player for the Greek club Apollon Smyrnis, signing a contract until the end of the season. In September 2016, he signed a contract with Mariupol's Illichivets, agreeing to a one-year deal with the club. Along with the team, he became the winner of the Ukrainian First League, which allowed Mariupol to return to the Ukrainian championship. In January 2018, he went to training camp in Turkey with Donetsk's Shakhtar. On February 2, 2018, he signed a contract with the "miners".
In July 2018, Fomin once again became a player for Mariupol. He left the team two years later, in July 2020. In August 2020, he joined the newly formed club Metal, which was renamed Metalist in June of the following year.
Fomin has played 9 games for the Ukrainian youth national team, scoring 5 goals.
