In 2009, Darbinyan took the helm of Mika, a struggling team. Under his guidance, the team transformed into an attacking force, achieving positive results. Mika's championship aspirations were cut short by a series of setbacks, leading to Darbinyan's departure. He was replaced by Babken Melikian, with Mika ultimately securing second place.

Stint at Kilikia and Shift to Araz

In 2010, Darbinyan joined Yerevan's Kilikia as head coach, signing a contract until 2012. Despite the club's aspirations, Darbinyan resigned four matches before the end of the championship season, citing potential opportunities abroad.

He then joined the coaching staff of Araz, where he played a vital role during the absence of the disqualified head coach. Shortly after, Darbinyan left Araz and assumed the reins of Saipa Shamal in Iran's first division.
