Biography
Scottie Pippen is truly a jack-of-all-trades player. During his time with the Bulls, he played as a point guard, a defender, and an attacker, effectively utilizing his physical attributes on the court. His defense, in particular, is superb. Pippen is a powerful, fast, and athletic player with a good height, long arms, and excellent court vision.
Opponents faced a challenge when playing against Pippen, who possessed a strong three-point shot, driving ability, and a solid post-up game. Although often overshadowed by his Bulls teammate Michael Jordan, Pippen took on the role of team leader when Jordan would rest. Similarly to Jordan, Pippen has a collection of awards, titles, and accomplishments.
He was selected to the NBA All-Defensive First Team eight times in a row, a feat achieved only by Jordan and Bobby Jones. Pippen also won the Most Valuable Player of the All-Star Game in the 1993-1994 season and became an Olympic champion in 1996.
After Jordan's retirement from basketball before the 1998-1999 season, Pippen was traded to the Houston Rockets. However, the partnership with Charles Barkley and Hakeem Olajuwon did not result in success, and Pippen later joined the Portland Trail Blazers. Due to his age and the presence of other talented players on the team (such as Arvydas Sabonis, Rasheed Wallace, and Damon Stoudamire), Pippen did not achieve remarkable statistics. However, he showcased his skills in the playoffs.
The challenging series against the Los Angeles Lakers would have ended in a 4-1 victory for them if it weren't for Pippen. His outstanding defense and support for his teammates helped the Portland Trail Blazers force the series to a seventh game. They were leading by 15 points going into the final 12 minutes. However, by some miracle, the Lakers managed to win. Pippen remains an active player and surely has more to show the young Bryants of the game.
