Biography of Selma Ergeç

Selma Ergeç is a Turkish actress and model, best known for her role as Hatice Sultan in the TV series "Magnificent Century" and her appearance in the film "The Net 2.0." She was born in Hamm, Germany in 1978 to a Turkish doctor and a German nurse from the Ruhr region. She was named after the writer Selma Lagerlöf. Her family moved to Mersin, Turkey in 1983, and later to Ankara. In 1989, they returned to Germany. Selma completed her high school education in North Rhine-Westphalia in 1995. She then studied at Headington School in Oxford, United Kingdom from 1995 to 1996.

From 1996 to 1998, Selma participated in a student exchange program and studied in Lille, France. She returned to Germany in 1998. Later, she relocated to Turkey and attended Istanbul University and the Faculty of Medicine at Adana University, where she also worked as an intern in a medical clinic.

On September 26, 2015, Selma married businessman Can Öz, whom she had been dating for two years. On April 8, 2016, Selma gave birth to a daughter named Yasmin, weighing 3,950 grams and measuring 54 cm.

Career

After completing her medical internship, Selma Ergeç took a one-year break and appeared in the TV series "Yarım Elma" produced by NBC, playing the character Ayça. In 2003, she started taking acting lessons from actress Aliye Uzunatagan and attended the Mujdat Gezen Art Center.

In 2006, Selma starred in the American-Turkish film "The Net 2.0." She has also worked as a model and is one of the faces of the brand Selamlique, along with her colleagues Carolina Koch and Banu Entur. This project brought her popularity even before her role in "Magnificent Century."

In 2011, Ergeç was invited to join the cast of the TV series "Magnificent Century," where she portrayed the character Hatice Sultan, the sister of Sultan Suleiman. According to the actress, this role is significant not only for her career but also for her soul.
