Early Life and Family
Snooki, whose real name is Nicole Polizzi, was born in Santiago, Chile, on November 23, 1987. Her biological parents gave her up for adoption, and at six months of age, she was adopted by an Italian-American couple, Helen and Andrew Polizzi. Her adoptive father worked as an auto shop manager and volunteer firefighter, while her mother was an office manager. The family initially resided in Florham Park, New Jersey, before relocating to Marlboro when Snooki was in school.
High School Years and Nickname
While attending Marlboro High School, Snooki earned the nickname "Snooki" after a character in the popular movie "Save the Last Dance." She was reportedly the first of her friends to kiss a boy, much like the character in the film. The nickname stuck with her throughout high school and beyond.
Struggles with Eating Disorder
Despite her outgoing personality, Snooki faced challenges during her teenage years. Due to her tendency to gain weight, she developed an eating disorder known as anorexia nervosa. She drastically reduced her food intake, resulting in a significant weight loss of up to 80 pounds. With the support of her parents and medical professionals, Snooki eventually overcame her eating disorder.
Education and Career Path
After graduating from high school, Snooki enrolled in college to study veterinary technology. However, she decided against pursuing a career in that field and instead ventured into other industry.
Television and Reality Shows
Snooki's first foray into television was a minor role in the comedy show "Control Freak" in 2002. She continued to make guest appearances on various shows over the next several years before landing her breakout role on the reality series "Jersey Shore" in 2009. The show, which featured eight roommates living in a house on the Jersey Shore, became a massive hit, propelling Snooki to stardom. Her outgoing personality and antics on the show earned her a large fan following.
After "Jersey Shore" ended in 2012, MTV offered the cast members new projects. Snooki starred in "Snooki & JWOWW," a reality show that followed her and fellow "Jersey Shore" cast member Jenni Farley's lives after the original series. The show also gained popularity, further solidifying Snooki's status as a reality television star.
In 2013, Snooki participated in the 17th season of "Dancing with the Stars," partnered with professional dancer Sasha Farber. However, they were eliminated from the competition during the seventh week.
Films and Other Projects
Despite her success in reality television, Snooki's film career has been limited. She made cameo appearances in "The Katty Keene Show" (2011), "The Three Stooges" (2012), "Movie 43" (2013), and an episode of "Supernatural" (2014).
Personal Life
Before her rise to fame, Snooki kept her personal life private. She met her future husband, Jionni LaValle, after the first season of "Jersey Shore" aired. LaValle, at the time, was a college sports management teacher. They got engaged in March 2012 and welcomed their first child, Lorenzo Dominic LaValle, five months later.
Initially hesitant about having more children, Snooki and LaValle had their second child, a daughter named Giovanna Marie, in September 2014. Two months later, the couple officially tied the knot in a Catholic church in East Hanover, New Jersey.
After giving birth to her first child, Snooki quickly regained her pre-pregnancy body. She posed for a photoshoot with Us Weekly magazine in March 2013 and has since maintained her weight.
Recent Projects and Social Media
Snooki continues to be active in the entertainment industry, appearing in projects and making public appearances. In 2018, she starred in the spin-off series "Jersey Shore: Family Vacation," which reunited the original cast members (except one) in Miami, Florida, for a summer of vacation and filming.
Snooki maintains a strong connection with her fans through social media, particularly Instagram, where she shares updates on her family life, events, and current projects. As a mother and wife, she no longer posts revealing photos, but paparazzi often capture her out and about, resulting in images circulating online.
