Early Career
Steffen Iversen, a Norwegian footballer, began his professional career with National-Kameratene before moving to Astor. In 1994, he joined Rosenborg, where he won Norwegian league championships in 1995 and 1996. Iversen's talent shone brightly during his time at Rosenborg.
International Success
After impressing in the Norwegian league and UEFA Champions League, Iversen attracted attention from European clubs. In November 1996, he transferred to Tottenham Hotspur, making his debut against Coventry City. He scored his first Premier League goal weeks later against Southampton. Iversen became Tottenham's top scorer in the 1998/99 and 1999/00 seasons, netting 13 and 17 goals, respectively.
Injuries and Career Decline
In the following season, Iversen suffered an injury that hampered his ability to play consistently. He left Tottenham in 2003, joining Wolverhampton Wanderers, but failed to establish himself at the club. Despite a successful spell with Vålerenga from 2004 to 2005, Iversen eventually returned to his former club, Rosenborg, in 2006.
Return to Rosenborg
Iversen made an immediate impact upon his return to Rosenborg, scoring two goals in his second appearance. He finished the 2006/07 season as the team's top scorer with 18 goals, helping them to win another league championship.
Final Years of Career
In 2010, Iversen decided to leave Rosenborg and joined Crystal Palace in England's Championship. However, his time there was unsuccessful, and he retired from playing in 2011.
Personal Life
Iversen is a son of former footballer Odd Iversen. Although born in Oslo, he is considered a native of Trøndelag, as he speaks the local dialect and his father played for Rosenborg. Iversen is known for his outgoing personality and his close connection with Rosenborg fans.
