Ragnar Sigurdsson: A Journey Through Clubs and Countries
Early CareerRagnar Sigurdsson, born in the Icelandic town of Kópavogur, began his footballing journey in 2011 when he joined his hometown club Breiðablik. Over the next three seasons, he made 42 appearances for Breiðablik before spending a brief spell on loan at Egnablik.
Viking Stavanger
In 2014, Sigurdsson moved to Norway to play for Viking. The rugged defender quickly established himself as a regular starter, solidifying his place in the team's backline.
Belgian and Spanish Adventures
In 2015, Sigurdsson signed for Belgian club Lokeren. Over the next two years, he made 46 appearances in the Belgian Pro League. In January 2017, he made a move to Spain, joining Granada and penning a contract that lasted until 2020.
Rostov
Just six months into his Granada adventure, Sigurdsson relocated to Russia in June 2017, signing a three-year contract with FC Rostov.
International Career
Sigurdsson made his international debut for Iceland in a friendly match against Sweden in 2014. He was a key part of the team that qualified for and competed in the 2016 European Championship in France. To date, he has made 13 appearances for his country, scoring three goals.
